Writing
The writing curriculum at William Booth Primary aims to develop children as confident writers. The development of vocabulary is a fundamental part of learning. This, alongside a grammar and spelling focus, helps to give children the tools they need to write a range of interesting pieces around the four main purposes of writing: to entertain, to inform, to persuade and to discuss. Children work through stages of being immersed in text types before learning skills associated with the style of writing; planning for their own writing and then editing it, before finally publishing their work to a high standard. Writing is seen as a fundamental aspect of all areas of the curriculum and is used to drive learning in other subjects.
